Sydney’s best playgrounds for kids of all ages

Playgrounds allow kids to have fun, relax and explore their mental and physical abilities in a safe place. Sydney is one of the most kid-friendly cities in Australia with so many great play areas to enjoy over summer on a family day out. Not all playgrounds are alike, some focus on water play, nature play or on building physical strength. Pack a picnic and hit one of our top 3 play spaces in Sydney.

1. The Ian Potter Children’s WILDPLAY Garden at Centennial Parklands is a state-of-the-art nature play space that is quickly becoming a family favourite.

Designed for children aged 2-12, of all abilities and backgrounds, this park encourages climbing, jumping, running, splashing, and getting dirty. Endless hours of entertainment can be found amongst the bamboo forest, treehouse, tunnels, turtle mounds and water play area. Free parking and free entry, what’s not to love?

2. The Ryde Aquatic Centre is a spacious complex that is great for rainy days or scorching summer afternoons.

There are dedicated areas for almost all ages including an under-fives pool with a waterslide. The leisure lagoon, whirlpool, wave generator, rapid river and waterslides entertain the bigger kids too. A creche is available for youngsters to enjoy while a sibling is learning to swim!

3. The Children’s Playground in Darling Quarter is great for kids of all ages to enjoy.

With so many different areas for children to explore, this park is great for a family day out in the city. There is a flying fox, sandpit, slides and water fountains for the kids plus great restaurants nearby for lunch or an early dinner. There is access to public transportation and several parking stations around the playground.
