Centennial Park receives eighth consecutive Green Flag Award

Centennial Park has been named one of the best parks in the world for the eighth consecutive year by winning another Green Flag Award.

The Park joins one of ten Australian parks that were recognised internationally for their sustainability, cleanliness, horticultural standards, community involvement and providing a warm welcome to visitors. Centennial Park continues to be a leader in the realm of green space management and sets the benchmark for high-quality parks globally.

This is also a credit to the volunteers and local communities that continue to support us and see the exceptional value of having a high-quality park in an urban setting.

The People's Park

The Green Flag judges found that the Park was in outstanding condition, given the 17 million visits it receives every year and the diversity of users that enjoy the space. The Park's team works across Queens Park and Moore Park too. Combined, the Parklands has over 31 million visits each year.

This recognition is a tribute to the passionate team whose hard work includes everything from running school holiday programs and free community events to inspecting the 15,000 trees across the Parklands and adding tens of thousands of plants each year - and of course, everything in between.

The Park is so close to the Sydney CBD and features impressive horticulture displays, heritage statues, notable entrances and tree-lined corridors - it’s easy to see why this is one of Australia’s most popular destinations.
