Grass Tree Skirt Habitat

Create a grass tree skirt habitat for a creature of your choice to live in!

What you need:

  • Red, orange, yellow, brown and green A1 coloured paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Toilet paper rolls

Optional

Use different sized cardboard cylinders to make different sized grass trees

Cut paper leaves

  • Cut up all the pieces of paper into strips about 1cm thick. Cut the strips along the short side.

Making the grass tree skirt

  • Pick out all the red, orange, yellow and brown strips. Glue one end of the paper halfway up the toilet roll. Make sure the strips of paper are facing downwards. Continue adding strips of paper around the cylinder working your way up.

Top off your grass tree

  • Collect the green strips of paper. Glue one end of the paper strip and stick it to the inside of the toilet paper tube. Make sure you stick it on the top end of your grass tree. Add multiple layers until satisfied.

Who is going to live in your grass tree skirt habitat?

  • Find a small animal figurine or make one out of paper/natural materials.
