A nature-filled night of camping and outdoor activities is easy and fun at Centennial Parklands.

Dust off your camping gear and bring the whole family along for a unique camping experience under the stars in the wild green heart of Sydney! Camping is a unique way to spend quality time with family and friends – it gets you out of the house, connecting with nature and creating special memories together. 

Guided by our outdoor experts, try out your skills  and receive simple tips to get you started and learn the basics of camping right here in Centennial Parklands. Just the practice you need before your next escape in the wilderness and beyond!

You will also enjoy all the delights of a unique camping experience with a twilight tour, campfire stories, sleeping under the stars and much more!

What happens during a typical Camping experience?

You ticket includes all the following activities:
  • Tent assembly 101: remember the poles!
  • Fully catered BBQ dinner and continental breakfast
  • Unique bat watching experience at sunset with our Education rangers
  • Guided spotlight tour of nocturnal wildlife in the park
  • Running, jumping and playing in our amazing outdoor classroom
  • Authentic catered campfire experience (and yes, we will have s’mores and stories!)
  • Mindfulness activity for adults and kid's Nature Play activities in the morning
Throughout the year, our program explores various themes and offers different activities.
Not only do you get to sleep under the stars - the Sydney City Skywatchers will set up their telsecopes for us and share their knowledge about the beautiful night sky ...
Learn to read the park like no one else and find out who lives in the nest, burrows, and boxes and who loves to eat what! 
Join us around the camp fire for some story of drop bears, bunyips and other creature that might be found in Australia! Don't forget to bring you dress up and you might be in for a treat! 
Our Aboriginal educators will join us in November and you will see which of the many plants in Centennial Park make a beautiful addition to our BBQ and others that can be woven into beautiful art.

Frequently Asked Questions
Tickets are required from 2 years old. Younger kids can come but don’t need a ticket.
The program is held near a toilet block. There is access to cold water but no shower facilities.
Tent must not be bigger than 20m2.
We provide outdoor chairs and tables for meal times but you might like to bring a camp chair for sitting outside your tent
Yes, the ticket includes a BBQ-dinner and a continental breakfast.

Plan your visit
BYO tent and sleeping arrangements.

Minimum numbers must be met for this program to run.

Meeting point: Our camping site is Loch Ave South. Meet our Education Team at the Wild Play Discovery Centre from Dickens Drive. 

Refunds are available if you or your child show any symptoms related to COVID-19.

Do not attend our programs, if

  • You show any COVID-19 symptoms or feel unwell
  • You have returned a positive Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) or Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test
  • You have been asked to self-isolate

Please follow the NSW Health COVID-19 testing and self-isolating Health Order advice. We will refund your ticket if you or your child are not able to attend due to any of the above reasons.
