Banksia Way Playground Minor Upgrade

Project Purpose

To deliver a minor upgrade to the existing play space at Banksia Way to replace some of the dilapidated items and replace and enhance others as well as improve safety.   

Project Description/Works

The Banksia Way play space, designed for children aged 0 to 5 years, has reached the end of its current life and requires upgrading to continue to meet the needs of families visiting Centennial Park. Current play equipment will be upgraded, and new features added including:

  • Additional two-seat swing set - with new rubber resurfacing
  • New perimeter fence/barrier fencing to provide protection and delineation from Banksia Way
  • Removal of existing gecko timber bench seat and replacement with a new water dragon one 
  • Sandpit improvements including new timber duck furntiure and a custom-designed cubby house. 


The play space will be closed for the duration of the works, with families encouraged to use the playground near the Paddington Road Gates or at the Learners Cycleway near the Greenhouse Café.

Parking bays will be closed and there will be increased truck movements on Banksia Way. There will be noise impacts, but they are being mitigated to minimise disruption to park visitors and visitors to the Centennial Homestead.
