Major event days - temporary parking

The Moore Park Masterplan 2040 will see the progressive removal of on-grass parking at Moore Park. At peak times, the Moore Park precinct can attract more than 80,000 patrons at one time, so for the benefit of patrons, neighbours and the surrounding road network, temporary event day parking on-grass is sometimes facilitated to alleviate parking pressure in surrounding streets.

Temporary car parks

During major stadia events or festivals, the following temporary carparks may be activated. These include:

  •  Lower Kippax – opposite Allianz Stadium
  • Showgrounds Field – Corner of Lang Road and Driver Avenue.  Enter via Driver Avenue from Lang Road.
  • Moore Park Golf – Enter via Cleveland Street.
  • Kippax Lake area – northern end of Driver Avenue. Enter via Driver Avenue from Moore Park Road.

Additional temporary Parking may be available at;

  • Sydney Boys High School – Enter via Cleveland Street
  • Sydney Girls High School – Enter via Cleveland Street

Parking stations within walking distance to Moore Park may be also explored via Wilson Parking or Secure Parking.

Public transport

Public transport remains the easiest way to travel to events in Moore Park. The precinct is serviced by Moore Park Light Rail Station on the L2 & L3 lines. The major event Bus terminal may also provide additional services to events in Moore Park, and Moore Park is now an easy walk from Central, via Devonshire Street and the Tibby Cotter Bridge.

COVID-19: Temporary Park & Ride at Showground Field

As part of the NSW Government’s COVIDSafe Transport Plan, Transport for NSW, with support from Centennial Parklands, has been operating a temporary Park & Ride free commuter car park from Showground Field in Moore Park since the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pop-up parking initiative was designed to support workers returning to offices in the Sydney CBD by providing commuters with an easy connection to the city by bike, on-foot or by public transport.

As COVID-19 restrictions have eased and public transport capacities have increased, the pop-up car park is no longer required to operate and will close from 1 April 2021.

The last day of car park operations will be Thursday 1 April from 6am to 10pm, after this date the car park will no longer operate on weekdays as a free pop-up car park for CBD commuters.
