Ian Potter Children’s WILD PLAY Garden reopened from Friday 7 October 2022

Published on 4 Oct 2022
The Ian Potter Children’s WILD PLAY Garden reopened today (Friday 7 October) but the water feature will be turned off for the weekend weather permitting (Friday 7 October to Sunday 9 October). Find out more about the water feature deactivation on the park notice page.

The garden was closed on Wednesday 5 October and Thursday 6 October to allow the safe removal of a large Hill’s Weeping Fig. Due to adverse weather conditions, a split developed in the tree’s trunk which posed a safety risk to visitors. Centennial Parklands’ expert in-house arboriculture team and independent arborists assessed the tree with consideration for its location and value to the WILD PLAY Garden, and determined that the tree had to be removed.

The Centennial Parklands’ arboriculture team will replant a suitable advanced tree to replace the fig in the coming weeks.
