Have your say on the future of Moore Park South

The consultation period has now closed. Thank you to everyone who had their say on the future of Moore Park South. The Government will consider all feedback received in the consultation period and prepare a ‘What we heard’ report, which is expected to be released later this year.

Have your say on Sydney’s new park

Greater Sydney Parklands invites you to share your ideas on plans for a new public park and golf offer within Moore Park.

The proposal by the NSW Government will transform 20 hectares of Moore Park South into green open space for community recreation in one of the densest parts of the city. This decision responds to the needs of the growing communities surrounding Moore Park.

The community is now being asked to share views on how they would like to use the new park and how the existing golf offering at Moore Park could be reimagined.

Consultation will be open until 10 April 2024.

Future of Moore Park South Discussion Paper

The Discussion Paper released by the NSW Government outlines the decision to transform an area on the western side of Moore Park Golf Course on the north of Dacey Avenue to public open space while retaining the 9-hole golf course, driving range and clubhouse.

We want to hear from you

The NSW Government has asked Greater Sydney Parklands to consult with the community and stakeholders about the ideas and considerations outlined in the Discussion Paper.

We want your views on what you would like to see and do in the new parkland, opportunities to reimagine golf at Moore Park South, and any other ideas or barriers you identify.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The NSW Government has announced its decision to transform an area on the western side of Moore Park Golf Course, north of Dacey Avenue to public open space while retaining the 9-hole golf course, driving range and clubhouse.

Currently there are almost 690,000 people within a 5km radius of Centennial Parklands, with the population projected to rise to almost 790,000 in 2041. This makes it one of the densest residential communities in Australia, with the majority of these people living in apartments, townhouses or terraces.

The new park will increase public access to green space which is important to improving the quality of life of nearby residents. As our cities and communities grow, we need to deliver open spaces to support greater density in the right places.

The NSW Government is committed to well-built, well-designed, and well-located homes close to public spaces for families to enjoy the outdoor environment. To support this density, the Government is acting on a need to deliver more public open space for inner-city residents with the current operating licence of Moore Park Golf course set to expire in 2026.
Sydneysiders are invited to share their ideas on plans for a new public park which will transform 20 hectares of Moore Park South into green open space for community recreation in one of the densest parts of the city. The consultation asks the community to comment on how they would like to use the new park and how the existing golf offer at Moore Park could be reimagined. A Discussion Paper has been prepared to guide this consultation.

We’ve made it easy to provide feedback on the Discussion Paper.

The NSW Government has asked Greater Sydney Parklands to speak with people to understand their ideas and aspirations for the new park, as well as how a strong golf offering can be retained at Moore Park.

We are still in the information gathering stage to identify suitable uses.

Any detailed designs or proposals would be subject to ongoing consultation as per Greater Sydney Parklands’ consultation and engagement framework.
With the current operating licence of Moore Park Golf course set to expire in 2026, the time is right for an open conversation about the future use of this public asset.

The NSW Government has asked Greater Sydney Parklands to consult with community and stakeholders to understand their aspirations for the new park and opportunities for the future of golf at Moore Park.

The Government will consider all feedback received in the consultation period and prepare a ‘What we heard’ report which is expected to be released later this year.

Greater Sydney Parklands will then prepare designs for the new recreational area and a reconfigured golf course, in consultation with the community and other stakeholders, with works to be progressively implemented over time.
There is no immediate change to golf at Moore Park, with the current operating licence of Moore Park Golf Course set to expire in 2026.

Moore Park is part of Centennial Parklands, which is managed by Greater Sydney Parklands on behalf of the NSW Government for the benefit of the people of NSW.
