Walk 4 Brain Cancer FAQs

The annual Walk4BrainCancer on Sunday 3 November 2024 is a community fundraising event that sees participants walk, run or jog 5km within Centennial Park to raise funds and awareness for the Cure for Brain Cancer Foundation. The Foundation’s challenge is to find a cure for brain cancer.  

The event site will open at 8:30am with the race starting at 9:30am and concluding at 12:00pm.

The Walk4BrainCancer event site will be located at Church Grounds in Centennial Park with a 5km course.  

The course will depart from Church Grounds, travel north adjacent to Parkes Drive, turn left at Spruce Goose and follow the ridgeline until Grand Drive, left onto the jogging track and follow this back to Church Grounds. The cycle lane, horse track and sealed footpath will not be impacted as the course is taking place on the jogging track. Site occupation for this event is starts on Saturday 2 November from 6:00am until approximately 3:00pm. 

Yes, pedestrian access to Centennial Park will be maintained at all times. All vehicle gates will be open and will close as per normal operations.  

Centennial Park will remain open for all park visitors. All vehicle gates will remain open as per normal operations. There are no road closures for the event and regular public parking available. Parking may however be limited at the Southern end of Parkes Drive and Grand Drive South.

There will be no restrictions to equestrian users related to this event. 

Cyclists and roller bladers will be able to access all open roads.

Walk4BrainCancer is not a music event however, there will be local amplified sound, announcements and music as part of the event atmosphere. Event sounds from 8:30am – 12:00pm. This will include a small stage on Church Grounds. The sound will be managed to ensure compliance with legislated sound requirements.
