  • Spend time outdoors connecting with nature
  • Help create a new environment for local birds and wildlife
  • Help to maintain native vegetation
Centennial Parklands will provide a team leader to assist volunteers and ensure plants are treated with care and planted properly.

RESTRICTIONS due to Coronavirus: The group size is small, with twenty places available on this year’s planting day in the Parklands. We have created some social distance boundaries on the day. At this stage it has been decided that individuals who fit into the vulnerable or high-risk categories, as determined by the Australian Government Department of Health, will not be able to engage in volunteer programs until it is deemed safe for their return. Hand sanitiser will be provided. Volunteers will be required to bring in their own mug and water bottle.

Bookings are essential. To book, email info@centennialparklands.com.au

Project Description

The Southwest Corner of Centennial Park is affected by erosion and loss of native vegetation. Sandy soils in the park are easily eroded, particularly along informal tracks. The project site is a degraded area with little vegetation cover, and surrounding sections dominated by African lovegrass weeds and young self-sown exotic pines. However, elements of the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub (ESBS) remain with small patches of native species occurring. The project aims to address these problems through soil stabilisation and native planting. We need to address the loss of vegetation and create an environment where biodiversity can flourish.
