Centennial Parklands is one of Australia’s largest and most popular public park spaces, hosting more than 30 million visits every year. There are some simple things you can do when you visit the Parklands to make sure this special place remains safe, accessible and enjoyable for all!

Launched this week, the Parklands’ annual Share the Park campaign raises awareness and educates the many diverse visitors about the right and responsible ways to enjoy the space. Through free workshops, tune-ups and entertaining activations, the Parklands hopes to encourage its visitors to refresh their understanding of the rules and regulations around the Park, especially when cycling to ensure the safety for all visitors.

Here's how you can Share the Park

Whether you visit the Parklands as cyclist, pedestrian, dog walker, horse rider or a motorist, you can do some things to help us Share the Park:

  • Follow the 30 km/h speed limit in Centennial Park.
  • Riding in groups may increase your average speed, making it difficult to stop at intersections. Maintain a safe speed at all times and always be on the lookout for other Park users.
  • Stay in the dedicated cycle lane on Grand Drive - do not cut corners or veer into the car lane.
  • Look both ways for bikes and cars before crossing the road and always use pedestrian crossings when they are provided.
  • If you walk or jog with headphones in your ears, take care before stepping out onto any roadway.
  • Respect the horse tracks and entrance ways, especially at Robertson Road Gate.
  • Pick up your dog’s poo and put it in the bin.
  • Know where on-leash areas are, for example inside Grand Drive in Centennial Park. Refer to the Parklands dog brochure or download our iPhone app for more information.
  • A single person can have a maximum of four dogs under control at any time - this is not just our rule, it's NSW State Law.
  • Take care when crossing all roads, especially entering and exiting Centennial Park at Robertson Road Gates.
  • Riders on the Centennial Park horse track must slow to a walk when passing other horses.
  • Equestrian riders must also abide by the Code of Conduct.
  • Slow down - the speed limit is 30 km/h in Centennial Park for all vehicles.
  • Stay in the car lane and look out for other Park users.
  • Check your blind spot for cyclists before turning across the cycle lane.

Together let’s make of the Parklands a wonderful place to enjoy.

Care for our green space

Sharing the Park also means leaving no trace. Whether you’re on the go, at a picnic site or at one of our food outlets please pick up your rubbish and dispose of it thoughtfully. By being considerate of other visitors and the Parklands wildlife, we preserve the beauty of our green space.

Remember if you don’t pick it up, someone else will!
