Pineapple Weed Management

Managing environmental weeds is an integral part of Centennial Parklands' bush regeneration programs.

Eryngium pandanifolium or pineapple weed is an environmental weed that occurs around ponds and wetlands in Centennial Park.

Environmental weeds can discourage regeneration of native vegetation and ongoing maintenance assists in the revegetation of the Parklands' ponds and wetlands. All weeding activity is done by hand, to ensure that it is carried out as sensitively as possible, avoiding impact on natural regeneration of natives and preventing bank erosion.
