This program is a combined geography program that includes a geographical investigation with an orienteering (or eco-teering) activity. This program provides a field work/data collection opportunity on urban wetlands alongisde an opportunity to to put their map reading and navigation skills to the test through an orienteering exercise.

Stage 4 Geography
Teams of students will enjoy a wetland orienteering race by navigating their way using a map to complete eight challenges to help them develop an understanding of the complexities of an urban wetland.
Wetland Ecosystem activities will include:
- Using a map to navigate to eight learning stations
- Using field equipment to test the abiotic factors of water in an urban wetland
- Undertake biotic testing via a dip-netting activity to determine water quality
- Identifying the different types of water birds inhabiting Centennial Park
- Field sketch of a pond ecosystem
- Visiting Lachlan Wetland to identify canopy level plant species and investigate the impact of the Grey-headed flying-fox colony
- Answering a variety of mapping and navigation questions.
