New safety and track etiquette guidelines at E.S. Marks

Greater Sydney Parklands is introducing new track etiquette and safety guidelines for Community Open Training at E.S. Marks Athletics Field to support safer, fairer and more enjoyable shared use.

With attendance at the Community Open Training nights growing strongly in recent years, the new guidelines aim to help all users - from casual runners to organised athletic groups - understand how to use the track respectfully and safely, particularly during busy periods.

These changes are part of a broader program to reduce congestion and improve safety during peak usage times at E.S. Marks. Over the coming months, you can expect to see:

  • Increased onsite staffing during Community Open Training, to support patron education and safe track behaviour
  • Direct engagement with large groups, key stakeholders and run clubs to address congestion and align on expectations
  • Surveys and other feedback opportunities to help guide improvements
  • Scheduled improvement, with the trialling of additional session options
  • A centre-wide signage refresh reflecting updates to Community Open Training protocols.
