Centennial Parklands will be undertaking tree works to remove two Erythrina x sykesii, Coral Trees located near Darly Road fenceline by Govett Street Gates on Wednesday 3 October 2018, both of which are in terminal decline.
Works will take place from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm, weather permitting. There will be no road closures associated with these works. Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted around the works. The trees will be removed and wood chipped onsite so some noise will be associated with the works.
Tree succession planting has already occurred to replace these trees and many others along Darley Road slopes.
Ficus rubiginosa, a more appropriate tree species were planted to replace these medium sized trees as recently as November 2017, along with other red flowering tree species such as Brachychiton acerifolius in recent years.

We work to keep our 15,000 trees healthy and beautiful by maintaining our trees, planting new trees and only removing trees when required or necessary.
We receive many questions about trees that are felled or removed despite ‘appearing healthy’ on the outside. But what many people do not know is that trees, like humans, are susceptible to a large and diverse range of health issues and structural defects. Eventually a tree may need to be removed once other tree management strategies become insufficient for public safety or sustaining the health of a tree.
To find out more about how we manage our trees please read our Tree Master Plan here and read our blog on the life cyle of a tree here.
