As part of the NSW Government’s COVIDSafe Transport Plan, it has been announced that a special event-style parking arrangement will be in place at Moore Park for people who are able to drive to work. Other locations will be rolled out soon. In addition, car park operators will be offering special deals for all day parking.
The temporary parking arrangements will be on Showground Field for a period of two months, which is adjacent to the Moore Park Light Rail stop, the Moore Park Bus loop, and the pedestrian Albert Tibby Cotter Bridge across ANZAC Parade.
From Monday 25 May, up to 980 vehicles can park for free on the southern end of Driver Avenue, entering through Lang Road or Moore Park Road from 6.00 am until 10.00 pm, Monday to Friday. The timeframe will be reviewed by Transport for NSW in conjunction with Centennial Parklands as necessary.
The Moore Park Masterplan will see the progressive removal of on-grass parking at Moore Park and as part of that plan no temporary parking will occur near the Kippax Lake area of Moore Park, at the northern end of the Park. Since event parking ceased in the Kippax Lake area, it has proved to be an extremely important green public space for people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
