Tree works: Maiden Row, Centennial Park starting 6 June

Published on 4 Jun 2019

From Thursday 6 June 2019, Centennial Parklands will be undertaking tree maintenance work and formative pruning along Maiden Row in Centennial Park.

Maiden Row is an area of Melaleuca quinquenervia trees, lining and in between Kensington Ponds and Alison Road, from the corner of Anzac Parade to the corner of Darley Road.

The row of trees is affectionately called ‘Maidens Row’ and was planted in 2000 as a tribute to previous director, Joseph Maiden. It consists of 74 broad-leaved paperbarks and was planted in a Maiden-style pattern to commemorate his influence on Centennial Parklands.

This routine pruning is part of our regular tree works program as it enables these trees to establish and promote a good form and branching structure.

The works will occur over several days starting at 7.00 am each day from the western side of the Kensington Pond footbridge and working east towards Darley Road (please see map below).

Pedestrian access will be maintained in the area and traffic control will be in place for the duration of works.
