Duck Pond Restoration Works (April - September 2018)

Published on 3 Apr 2018

Visitors to Centennial Parklands should be aware of restoration works being completed at Duck Pond in Centennial Park.

We have identified that a barrier wall in the water at Duck Pond requires restoration and will be completed in three stages. Works are scheduled during the hours of 8.30 am and 5:30 pm from until the completion of Phase 3 of the project. Temporary fencing has been put in place and the area directly surrounding the restoration works will be restricted for safety.

Phase 1 - Completed

Facilities management identified that the wall was in need of repair. Water levels were temporarily dropped to further assess the damage to the wall. Environment Officers and wildlife experts took part in the consultation process to ensure the protection and safety of the animals in the surrounding area.

Phase 2 - In progress

The wall investigations are now complete and structural engineers have been engaged to assist with the design of the construction and repair methodology. The design consultation and tender period will take two to three weeks before repair work will commence.

Phase 3

Repairs to the barrier wall are expect to start at the beginning of August and last one to two month weather permitting. Following completion of the works, the pond will naturally refill with rainfall.

During the repair work, there will be no walkway closures associated with these works. However, we ask that pedestrians passing the area take care. Click here to follow us on Twitter to view ongoing notifications.
