Road works in Centennial Park
30 July 2008
The City of Botany Bay Council has commenced patching works on Grand Drive, Centennial Park and are currently working near the entrance from the Robertson Road Gates (see map).
Upon completion of this section, patching works will then be undertaken on the section of Grand Drive from the Robertson Road Gates to Parkes Drive with this work to be completed by Friday 1 August 2008, weather permitting.
The majority of this work will be carried out in daylight hours and there should be minimal disruption to park visitors in relation to access along Grand Drive. As part of the works a traffic management plan will be activated and on-site signage made available to notify visitors of the works-in-progress.
Once patching and resealing works are completed, line marking works will take place throughout Centennial Park with these works to be completed at night after the park has been closed to vehicular traffic.
The date of these works is yet to be finalised and is dependent on weather conditions.
What are "patching works"?
Patching works involve the removal of failed sections of bitumen, stabilisation of the road base and then installation of new sections of bitumen in order to provide a safe and smooth road surface.
Due to minimal works being undertaken in this area over recent years, there are a number of areas within Centennial Park that will be receiving these works over the coming 12 months.
