Jack Johnson and Centennial Parklands Foundation - better together
24 April 2008
The Centennial Parklands Foundation raised over $400 when it joined Jack Johnson’s All At Once community on the Village Green at his recent 2008 World Tour. This amount, together with a $500 grant, will be matched by Jack Johnson to go towards the Foundation’s pond restoration project to improve habitat and water quality for the Parklands native animals.
The Village Green gave Foundation representatives an opportunity to discuss with concert goers the environmental and educational projects happening in their backyard and the ways they can become involved. It also highlighted positive actions which can be taken by community groups to solve particular environmental and urban problems.
Joanna Cuthbert, Development Manager for the Foundation, said “Through the Village Green we were able to connect with the people who really enjoy the Parklands and encourage them to become more involved as a volunteer or through our Friends program.”
Concert patrons supported the Foundation by not only donating funds but signing up for volunteer and tree planting programs which provide a valuable contribution to the sustainable future of the Parklands.
The Foundation is an independent charitable organisation established by the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust with the aim of ensuring that the Centennial Parklands environment continues to be enjoyed now and by future generations.
