Community celebrates Grand Drive facelift

Join Centennial Parklands and players from the Sydney Swans at a special event to showcase the newly completed restoration works on historic Grand Drive.

The local community, residents and Park visitors will be thanked for their support at a sausage sizzle and morning tea in Centennial Park.

The 12-month restoration works included:

  • footpath resurfacing to eliminate erosion and uneven surfaces
  • installation of seating and accessible bubblers
  • softer less intrusive granite blocks to replace the unsightly metal posts and chain fencing
  • five new amenities blocks

The works were part of Centennial Parklands Park Improvement Plan.

The Hon. Sandra Nori MP, Minister for Tourism and Sport and Recreation said, ‘this fun community event is a great opportunity to recognise the support of those Sydneysiders who love and use this beautiful open green space in the heart of Sydney.’

Minister Nori and Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos will be planting a commemorative tree and Centennial Parkland Rangers will have activities to entertain the kids.
