Tree removals in preparation for National Tree Day Plantings
9 June 2009
The Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust is currently removing 20 trees along Carrington Way, Centennial Park as part of its Tree Replacement Program.
Trees being removed include self-sown exotic species, weed species and damaged / dying trees considered high risk to public safety - as recommended in its Tree Master Plan 2002. The Master Plan envisages a gradual replanting of some of the endemic site species to this area, reflecting its semi-natural character.
National Tree Day Plantings
On National Tree Day, Sunday 2 August 2009, Carrington Way will again be the focus of new tree planting with 40 semi-advanced native trees such as Coastal Banksia, Forest Red Gum and Swamp Mahogany to be planted to replace exotic species currently being removed.
Park visitors can get involved in this planting by adopting a tree on National Tree Day. Find out more.
