World Youth Day event infrastructure installation
1 July 2008
Centennial Park is an official live site for the upcoming World Youth Day 2008. While the main festivities in this precinct will occur at Randwick Racecourse, the Park will host a number of events on the weekend of 19 and 20 July.
In preparation for these events, park visitors will notice an increase in heavy vehicle movements within the Park and the erection of site infrastructure. This infrastructure includes:
- mobile phone towers;
- emergency services communications compounds;
- big screens; and
- other associated works being carried out for event sites.
While event organisers will work hard to minimise disruption on regular park operations, park visitors should take particular care in and around these event sites.
Centennial Parklands Rangers will be on hand to assist with any heavy vehicle movements, however should you have any questions or concerns about the installation of this infrastructure, please visit the Parklands Office (behind the Centennial Park Restaurant) or phone (02) 9339 6699.
