10 Years Anniversary Issue of Parklands magazine soiree

On Wednesday 20 June, 2007, Friends of Centennial Parklands joined with current and former editors of Parklands magazine to celebrate its 10 year anniversary issue.

The magazine was first produced in winter 1997 and the then Minister for the Environment, Pam Allen, introduced a magazine she said was “designed to make it easier for Sydney people to get more from their parks” and to learn “how the Trust and State Government are building for a new century”.

In his welcome Steve Corbett, Director and Chief Executive, said “a lot has changed in 10 years but today the message is the same. More than ever we are aware of the many health benefits of visiting a park. We want to encourage people not only to make use of all a park has to offer but also to look forward to ensure their sustainable future.”

The event was held in the Cleveland Room at Moore Park Golf which was decorated with framed copies of every issue of the magazine. Guests enjoyed reflecting on the previous covers - each one providing a snapshot of life in Centennial Parklands over the past 10 years and visually reflecting the diversity of these world class public Parklands.
