Picnics and Barbecues

The Parklands offer unlimited picnic spots. There are six free BBQ sites (each site has two electric cookers) in Centennial Park and one in Queens Park. These operate on a first-in basis. Bookings are required for groups of 50 or more. Visitors can bring in portable BBQs with legs (except during periods of total fire ban), as well as portable picnic equipment such as tables and chairs.

Prohibited:

• Portable BBQs that sit on the grass.
• Dumping hot coals, lighting fires and lighting fireworks.
• During Total Fire Bans

Gas and electric BBQs are permitted:

• Providing there is an exclusion zone of at least 3 metres from the BBQ to combustible material eg. leaf litter, long grass, paper.
• If the BBQ is supervised by a responsible adult and there is water standing by.
• Heat bead, coal and wood fired BBQs are not permitted during periods of total fire bans.
