Golf Course improvement works

The Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust is undertaking a course and facility improvement program of works, at Moore Park Golf Course. These works include redevelopment of the course and refurbishment of the historic golf house.

History

The Moore Park Golf Course was officially opened as a 9 Hole Course on 24 May 1913 – with the additional 9 holes being added almost a decade later.

The historic golf house opened on 19 June 1926.

Course layout alterations and extensions are made throughout the 1930s and 1940s to accommodate the ES Marks Athletics Field and other developments along course boundaries.

The NSW Open Championship was held in 1963 to commemorate the City of Sydney 175th Anniversary.

Management of the course was transferred to the Centennial Park & Moore Park Trust in 1990, and a total reconstruction of the Golf Course was undertaken in 1991.

The picturesque three-tiered driving range in operation today opened in 1995.

New Course improvement works

Stage One of the course improvement works will involve reconstruction works on the 2nd, 5th and 17th holes. The fairways will be reconfigured and landscaped to improve drainage, fairness and playability of these holes.

Moore Park Golf – Golf House refurbishment

The Centennial Park & Moore Park Trust’s Park Improvement Plan identified a major refurbishment of the existing Moore Park Golf House (MPGH) and Pro Shop as priority projects.

Project Managers (Clifton Coney) have been appointed and architects are being appointed to improve the golf house by enhancing existing function facilities, linking the driving range to the golf house and opening up the golf house at rear ground level to provide café / bistro facilities.

The works will also see improvements to accessibility through a redesigned golf house entry, and an improved car park configuration.

Further information will be made available throughout progress of this project.
