Projects

Centennial Parklands is one of Sydney’s most desirable open space areas, drawing over five million visits per annum. The Parklands has a wide variety of users including tourists, community service participants, schools, individuals and families undertaking passive and active recreation activities. Accommodating diverse needs while ensuring the long term sustainability of the Parklands for future generations is a key challenge. The sharing of road space within Centennial Park and provision of safe and equitable access for all is a key issue. In addition, high use sports facilities and playgrounds require upgrading along with basic visitor services.

In recognition of the intensity of use and to upgrade the aging asset, Centennial Parklands has commenced a Park Improvement Plan. The Park Improvement Plan is a Treasury approved capital program over a period of seven years and will result in significant improvements across the Parklands. From time to time you will notice increased construction activity in the Parklands however the improvements will ensure a park system that is sustainable, attractive, cost effective, safe and of an appropriately high quality. There is no ‘do nothing’ option for Centennial Parklands and if work is not undertaken the Parklands will become unsafe and degraded. Many works incorporated in the Park Improvement Plan have been included as a result of community feedback.

Over $20 Million of works have been completed to date as part of the Park Improvement Plan which includes the following projects:
