Focus for 2007
The members of the Community Consultative Committee (CCC) are now working effectively as a team and as a conduit to the broader community. Much of the work conducted by the CCC is in response to matters raised or events that occur in and near the Parklands. We can also anticipate a suite of policy and planning issues to be considered during the year, in particular the Centennial Parklands Corporate Plan and the implementation of the NSW State Plan. Overlaying that core business, the CCC will continue to aim for better and more effective communication channels with stakeholders and the broader community during 2007.
There are several opportunities for the CCC to engage itself in some major initiatives in the Parklands in 2007. The refurbishment of the restaurant and café is a great chance to help shape the profile of the Parklands and to ensure that the dining experience of park visitors complements an enjoyable and healthy outdoor experience. There is also a range of issues – from traffic to trees – which the CCC is already engaged in. For all of these matters, the CCC is a vital link between community views and the Trust decision-making. The outcome we seek is to assist the Trust in finding the right balance for the Parklands to continue to provide all its visitors with a source of happiness, social connection and wellbeing.
