Stormwater Channel Fencing Project

Capital Works Project

Project Name: Stormwater Channel Fencing Project
Location: Musgrave Avenue, Centennial Park
Project Timing: Start work from 5 December 2011

Project Description

Sydney Water is currently undertaking a Sydney-wide program of improving safety fencing along stormwater channels. The stormwater channel between the culvert at Musgrave Avenue gates and Musgrave Pond in Centennial Park is a Sydney Water asset, and compliant safety fencing will be installed along this channel in late 2011.

Works in Centennial Park

Work will begin from 5 December 2011 with Sydney Water’s contractor, Bluedog Fences Australia, installing the new safety fence along the stormwater channel to increase safety and security around its stormwater channels.

The work will take about two weeks to complete. We expect to finish in mid-December 2011, weather permitting.

Work hours are 7.00 am to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

The work involves:

  • establishing a work area along the stormwater channel running through the Park;
  • demolishing and removing the existing fencing; and
  • installing new fencing along the channel.

A number of discrete vehicle movements and periods of noise will be experienced around the work area.

Sydney Water and Bluedog Fences Australia apologise for any inconvenience and we appreciate your cooperation and support during this important work.

The Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust acknowledges the critical nature of this public safety project. The Trust was initially concerned about the installation of safety fencing along the channel creating an inappropriate 'visual impact' upon the heritage landscape of this historic corner of the Parklands. The Trust would like to thank Sydney Water for its agreement to amend the fence-type to accommodate this heritage consideration.
