Korean Defense Minister visits Moore Park Memorial

During his recent visit to Australia, the Republic of Korea’s Minister of National Defense, Mr Kim Kwan-Jin, visited the Korean War Memorial in Moore Park, Centennial Parklands to lay a special wreath to commemorate the friendship forged in war between the two nations.

KWM visit 141211The ceremony was held on Wednesday 14 December with Mr Kwan-Jin being joined by Australian Minister for Defence, the Hon. Stephen Smith MP, and the Hon Charlie Lynn, MLC, Parliamentary Secretary for Veterans' Affairs in laying wreaths at the memorial.

After the ceremony, Mr John Simmons, a veteran of the Korean War recited an ode following a minutes silence and John Holloway, Piper from the NSW Police Pipe band closed the
ceremony with a tune to remember those who had fought for our countries.

KWM visit 141211The event was also attended by special dignitaries from Korea and the Korean Consulate, veterans from the Korean War, Australian and NSW Government officials and representatives from the Australian Army and Navy.

The Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust is honoured to host this solemn event and to maintain this place of reflection and commemoration.
