Truck movements to be minimised
17 March 2008
The Trust, in conjunction with its event organisers, have agreed to retain some elements of the event site infrastructure from the recent Jack Johnson concert in Centennial Park, in order to improve public access and reduce impact of the upcoming V Festival (29 March 2008) on park visitors.
During the transition period between events the main stage, supplementary equipment and some fencing will remain on-site for the two week period.
The benefits of retaining this infrastructure on-site include:
- a reduction of around 234 truck movements through the Parklands;
- reduced event site construction schedule;
- minimisation of event site preparation impact on Easter Monday; and
- improved public access to Parade Grounds and Pine Grove (Parade Grounds has already been closed to sports bookings until mid-April).
The bump-out of the V Festival event will be completed on Wednesday 2 April 2008.
