New Kiosk and Visitor Information counter opens today

8 October 2008

Visitors to Centennial Parklands now have access to a new seven day-a-week staffed Visitor Information counter right in the heart of Centennial Park.

Located within the newly refurbished Centennial Parklands Dining (in Banksia Way, Centennial Park), visitors will have access to parkland information and brochures, be able to book on visitor programs and find information on the vast array of events and activities on offer across the Parklands.

The Visitor Information counter is located adjacent to the new takeaway kiosk, which also opened today.

New KioskThe kiosk is just part of the new Centennial Parklands Dining which includes a café and fine dining restaurant - the later two to be fully operational by late October. Trippas White will be providing high quality food, adding Centennial Parklands Dining to its long list of prestigious venues which includes The Mint, Art Gallery of NSW and the Botanic Gardens Restaurant.

‘Centennial Parklands is one of the world’s most popularly visited urban parklands, and the new Visitor Information counter is also another level of customer service we are looking to provide for our Park visitors,’ said Steve Corbett, Director and Chief Executive of the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust.

‘With the launch this year of our new website, and now the opening of the Visitor Information counter, we are responding to the community’s increasing demand for information about what’s happening when across the Parklands,’ he said.

In addition to visitor information and bookings, the new Information counter will also stock items for picnickers, dog walkers, joggers and those interested in supporting the Parklands.

’With over 100 events held across these Parklands annually, visitors are constantly amazed about the range of entertainment and leisure opportunities Centennial Parklands has to offer. The Visitor Information counter promises to be the one-stop shop for all your information needs,’ said Mr Corbett.

‘If you want to support Centennial Parklands, enjoy talking to people and can spare a few hours, we are also currently seeking volunteers to help staff the counter. You can contact the Trust for more information on this and many other volunteering opportunities.’

The Visitor Information counter will be open 9.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday, and from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm on weekends.
