Golf Australia Magazine hands out duel accolades to Moore Park Golf

One of Australia’s leading golf magazines has featured Moore Park Golf Course as its Australian Club of the Month for November 2006 – and had its readers also voting the Moore Park Driving Range as clearly the best in Australia.

Host to the 2006 Proton NSW Open, Moore Park’s location just minutes from the CBD has made it one of Sydney’s busiest and most popular courses. Golf Australia, in announcing its annual Readers Choice Awards, suggested ‘..that it was only fitting, therefore, that this well-loved course should also have the most popular driving range'.

‘With three tiers and 60 bays to iron out those swing faults, Moore Park Driving Range attracted five times the votes of its nearest competitor’ the magazine trumpeted in its December issue’s wrap up of its annual Golf Australia Readers Choice Awards.

In the previous November issue, the magazine splashed an eye catching image of the Par 4 1st hole at Moore Park with its signature city skyline background, under a double page spread headed 'Moore Park - Australian Golf Course of the Month'.

In the article Golf Australia described Moore Park as 'much-loved, vibrant and busy parkland layout.'  Built up from designer Eric Appelby’s vision from 1950 of ‘strategy over power’ , the article suggests that this philosophy has survived and endured in Moore Park’s transformation to the modern championship course 18 hole layout of today.

A hive of activity from dawn till dusk, the 18 hole Moore Park Golf Course and its world class Driving Range are open 7 days a week, 364 days a year. Public bookings for rounds of golf  can be taken online via www.mooreparkgolf.com or over the phone on (02) 9663 1064. (There is no need to advance book for the 60 bay Driving Range – just turn up and enjoy the facility).

A range of enticing membership packages is also on offer from the Moore Park Golf Club if anyone would like to consider becoming a member. Memberships provide priority access to these superb golfing facilities year round at very competitive rates. For further information please call (02) 9697 3877.
