Centennial Parklands hosts up to 100 events each year - ranging from weddings to corporate events to big festivals.
Here is a brief history of some of the significant events spanning the last two decades.
- Centenary of Federation, 2001 drew tens of thousands to Centennial Park to celebrate Australia's 100th birthday.
- The Concert for Life in 1992 drew a crowd of up to 80,000 to Centennial Park.
- Centennial Parklands Open Day in 2008 was aimed at drawing local families to celebrate these iconic Parklands.
- Circus Oz in 2004 was a popular annual visitor to Moore Park for several years in the early 2000s.
- Earth Festival in 2008 brought together entertainers, performers, artistic and cultural groups with an environmental message.
- The Gold Dinner in 2007 raised several million dollars for the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.
- Good Vibrations Festival has been an annual festival in Centennial Park since 2003.
- JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge is an annual corporate running event that raises funds for charitable purposes.
- Australian singer/songwriter Missy Higgins made for headline act debut in Centennial Park in 2006.
- Moonlight Cinema has been resident in Centennial Park throughout the summer months for many years and is one of the most popular such events in Sydney.
- Parklife, a festival of over ten years standing, is held annually in Moore Park.
- The Queens Baton Relay in 2006 drew great interest amongst the local community when it visited Centennial Park.
- Ride for Life is an annual cycling event in Centennial Park that raises funds for the Prince of Wales Oncology Department.
- The inaugural Taste of Sydney event was held in 2009 and is set to become a mainstay on the event calendar.
- V Festival has been a popular addition to Centennial Parklands events calendar, drawing a big range of international and local acts to Sydney.
