The Planning Framework
The Centennial Parklands Plan of Management is a 'big picture' planning document for all of Centennial Parklands. It sits above and guides the development and implementation of other plans and strategies.
From time to time the Trust prepares other plans and strategies to address specific issues within Centennial Parklands. The following is a general guide to the differences between these plans:
- 'Plans of Management' are generally prepared by planners with specialist input on particular issues.
- 'Master Plans' are often design-based documents for particular sites and are generally prepared by architects or landscape architects with specialist input on particular issues.
- 'Management Plans and Strategies' usually deal with a particular issue and are prepared by specialists in those fields. Centennial Parklands examples include the Transport, Access and Parking Plan, the Sports Strategy and the Conservation Management Plan.
The new Corporate Plan 2007-2010 includes a diagram of how Centennial Parklands plans relate to each other.
NSW State Plan
In November 2006, the State Government released the NSW State Plan: A New Direction for NSW.
The Plan sets out the goals the NSW community has requested the State Government to work towards.
It also identifies specific, measurable priorities for government action to achieve these goals over a 10-year period.
A key theme of the State Plan is Environment for Living and the NSW Department of the Arts, Sport and Recreation has been nominated as the lead agency for one of the Plan’s major priorities:
“E8 – More people using parks, sporting and recreational facilities, and participating in the arts and cultural activity”.
The Trust has endeavoured to align its goals, priorities and strategies with the NSW State Plan.
